ALO Bringing 400+ Jobs to Southaven Distribution Center

Los Angeles-based athletic apparel brand ALO is opening a national fulfillment and Southaven distribution center, a project the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) says represents a corporate investment of nearly $176 million and more than 400 new jobs for DeSoto County. The state announced the project on Monday, Oct. 12.

ALO, known for its yoga and studio-to-street fitness wear, is moving into an existing building in Southaven and will occupy up to 1.2 million square feet. According to MDA, the company also has the option to add returns processing at the site.

What the Southaven Distribution Center Means for Jobs

MDA said ALO began operations in August and plans to fill the new positions by 2027. Company co-president Norm Hullinger said ALO expects to create more than 400 jobs when the site opens, “and many more to come during the holiday season,” since fulfillment centers often add seasonal staff for peak shipping.

Key details from the announcement:

  • Company: ALO, a premium fashion and lifestyle brand built around fitness and wellness apparel
  • Investment: nearly $176 million
  • Jobs: more than 400 new positions, to be filled by 2027
  • Facility: up to 1.2 million square feet in an existing Southaven building
  • Incentives: MDA assistance through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive (MFLEX) program, with DeSoto County and the City of Southaven also assisting

The release did not give the building’s address or say how residents can apply. Job seekers should watch ALO’s careers page and local workforce channels for postings.

State and Local Leaders React

Gov. Tate Reeves pointed to Mississippi’s strength in logistics, noting that ALO “could’ve picked anywhere” for its national fulfillment center and chose DeSoto County. MDA Executive Director PJ Waldrop said Southaven gives companies the transportation access, workforce and capacity to ship products quickly across the country.

Southaven Mayor Darren Musselwhite said the city is “on fire, in a great way” in attracting new development, and he called the capital investment and new jobs a major boost to the local economy. DeSoto County District 4 Supervisor Lee Caldwell said the project means more than 400 chances for local residents to find steady work close to home.

Another Big Win for Southaven’s Logistics Corridor

Southaven’s location along I-55 and I-69/I-269, minutes from Memphis International Airport and the region’s rail and trucking hubs, has made it a magnet for warehouse and distribution operations. ALO’s announcement comes about a month after Mayo Clinic Laboratories unveiled a $30 million, 234-job project in the city, and it adds to a busy stretch of economic development across DeSoto County.
