Northpoint Christian volleyball won its fourth straight district championship and went undefeated for the district season with a 3-0 sweep of Lausanne Collegiate Tuesday night at Lausanne.  Set scores were 25-14, 25-16, and 25-11.

In the victory, Sarah Johnson finished with 26 assists, 3 blocks, 7 digs, 2 kills. Quinn Thurman provided 15 kills, 3 blocks, 7 digs. Mckenzie Roach had 4 kills and 4 blocks; and Hassie Clare Thurman came up with 18 digs and 3 assists.

After a 25-14 victory in set one, the Lady Trojans took a 4-0 lead in the second set after an initial side out and three straight service points from Val Hurdle.  Lausanne would rally and climb back into the set to tie things up at 12-12, forcing a Northpoint timeout.

Coming out of the timeout, the Lady Trojans would come out with a seven-point run for a 19-12 lead, forcing the Lady Lynx to ask for time.  Northpoint would hold the seven-point lead and pulled away for the 25-16 set two win.

The third set started again with an early lead for the Lady Trojans, which was 7-2 after a service ace.  At 14-7 Northpoint, Lausanne asked for a timeout but the Lady Trojans continued to pour it on, taking a 20-10 lead after a kill from Quinn Thurman. A series of blocks and kills brought the score to the final score of 25-11.

Coach Kim Robinson said Tuesday’s win puts Northpoint into the TSSAA Division II-A West Region tournament as the number one seed, when the playoffs start next Tuesday at St. George’s in Collierville, Tenn.

“We came in and we had a goal to keep them under a certain number, and they did it every single time,” Robinson said. “The kills were spread all around for all of our girls. They are playing with heart and hustle, they know what the goal is in mind. Everybody’s locked in together.”
