Steckel featured at AutoZone Liberty Bowl FCA Breakfast
Sep. 21, 2024 – The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), together with the AutoZone Liberty Bowl, are pleased to announce that former FCA president and former NFL head coach Les Steckel will be the featured speaker at this year’s FCA / AutoZone Liberty Bowl Breakfast. The 2024 breakfast benefiting FCA will be held at the Hilton Memphis Hotel on Saturday, December 28 at 8:30 am.
Steckel’s stellar coaching career began in 1973 at the University of Colorado. He later coached at Navy before moving on to the NFL. Steckel coached with several teams, including San Francisco, Denver, Buffalo, Tampa Bay, Minnesota and Houston/Tennessee. He was named head coach of the Vikings in 1984, following longtime head coach Bud Grant. Steckel served as Offensive Coordinator of the Tennessee Titans, leading them to Super Bowl XXXIV.
Steckel served as president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for 12 years.
In announcing this year’s guest speaker, Greater Memphis FCA Metro Director Jeremy Wilbur commented, “We are extremely excited to have Coach Steckel share his story and personal testimony with our audience and the Memphis community. He has a powerful story of faith and how his relationship with God was a part of his coaching career and his life after football.”
