St. Benedict Topples Northpoint boys 68-51
CORDOVA, Tenn. — St. Benedict at Auburndale (SBA) pulled away in the second half for a 68-51 boys’ basketball victory over Northpoint Christian on Saturday afternoon in Cordova, Tennessee.
The Trojans trailed 30-24 at halftime, staying competitive behind Aidan Becksfort, who finished with a team-high 19 points. However, the momentum shifted late in the third quarter. With SBA leading 49-35 at the end of the quarter, Northpoint coach Luke Chapman picked up two technical fouls and was ejected from the game for arguing what he thought were missed foul calls during play.
St. Benedict capitalized on the distraction, led by Austin Holley’s 13 points. Northpoint’s Connor Moore attempted a late-game surge, scoring 13 of his 15 points in the second half, but the Eagles’ consistent scoring kept the game out of reach.
The Trojans couldn’t close the gap. Matthew McDaniel added seven points for Northpoint in the loss. SBA maintained a double-digit cushion through the final horn to secure the win.

Lady Trojans basketball gritty in 48-43 win over St. Benedict
CORDOVA, Tenn. — Despite missing five players who were not with the team, the Northpoint Christian Lady Trojans basketball team showcased their depth Saturday, securing a resilient 48-43 road victory over St. Benedict at Auburndale.
The Lady Trojans played without two regular starters, forcing younger players into prominent roles. “I was very proud of the effort from all our girls,” head coach Barry Gray said. “We had girls picking up the slack and finding a way to win a tough game on the road.”
Londyn Griffin delivered a dominant second-half performance to anchor the short-handed squad. Griffin finished with 17 points. She was particularly effective late, scoring 12 of her points in the second half, including eight in the final period to fend off a late SBA rally.
St. Benedict utilized a pressure defense in the closing minutes to cut the lead to 44-40 with 1:52 remaining. However, Northpoint’s composure and Griffin’s interior presence secured the win.
“I thought Londyn really led the team with her experience and toughness,” Gray said. “It mattered tonight.”
