Northpoint Christian Sweeps Lausanne in District Volleyball Match

Southaven, Miss. – Northpoint Christian School’s Lady Trojans volleyball team continued its strong run through district play Thursday evening, sweeping Lausanne Collegiate School in straight sets on their home court. Set scores were 25-17, 25-8, and 25-19.

The win came just days after Northpoint earned a four-set, non-district victory over Arlington, and the Lady Trojans carried that momentum into their matchup with the Lady Lynx.

Match Highlights

In the opening set, Lausanne grabbed an early 2-0 lead, but Northpoint quickly settled in. A drop shot from senior McKenzie Roach gave the Lady Trojans their first advantage, and momentum shifted from there. Key plays from Val Hurdle, including a block and a timely point at the net, extended the margin. An ace serve by Lucca Bramlett and a kill from Christiana Nolan sealed the 25-17 first-set win.

The second set was all Northpoint, as the Lady Trojans built an early lead and never looked back. Leah Kirkpatrick powered through with a series of kills, while Hurdle and Sarah Johnson added aces and net dominance. Roach’s drop shot capped a dominant 25-8 set.

Lausanne opened the third set with energy, going up 4-1, but Northpoint answered. A block from Nolan tied the score and shifted the momentum once again. Johnson delivered a clutch ace and Hurdle closed the match with a block for the final 25-19 scoreline.

Coach’s Reaction

Northpoint head coach Kim Robinson said she was pleased with how her team adjusted and maintained intensity despite facing a district rival.

“That was another big district game,” Robinson said. “We knew coming in that we needed to stay consistent with our serve-receive, keep our pins firing, and serve aggressively. Tonight, we missed a few too many serves, but we stayed aggressive with our jump serves and tried to serve with a purpose.”

Robinson praised several standouts, including Bramlett, who recently committed to play both indoor and beach volleyball at Salem College in North Carolina.

“She’s got a great jump serve that’s really hard to read and she was effective for us tonight,” Robinson said.

She also highlighted setter Sarah Johnson’s defensive growth and Kirkpatrick’s development at the net.
“Sarah’s defense was really, really good tonight,” Robinson said. “And Leah is becoming more effective on the net every game. Her speed and blocking are improving each time she steps out there.”

The Lady Trojans now turn their focus to another district matchup next week against St. George’s.
