Monday sports: Northwest to host NJCAA Region 23 volleyball tournament

Soccer season starts for local high schools

Oct 28, 2024- After earning the MACCC Championship last week, the Northwest volleyball program captured the No. 1 seed and hosting rights to the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament, scheduled from Nov. 1-2 at Howard Coliseum.

Northwest will welcome Itawamba, Jones College, Pearl River, Northeast and Meridian to Senatobia for the single-elimination tournament, which will be highlighted by four matches on Friday and the championship match on Saturday.

The winner of the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament will face the champion of the Alabama Community College Conference (Region 22) on Saturday, Nov. 9 for the rights to an automatic bid in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament. More details about that match will be announced following the Region 23 Tournament.

All matches will be streamed on Ranger TV (nwccrangers.com/watch). Fans can purchase tickets online at nwccrangers.com/tickets, with day passes available for $10. No cash tickets will be sold, but MHSAA and MACCC passes will be accepted.

Friday, Nov. 1

  • Game 1: #3 Jones College vs. #6 Meridian – 10 A.M.
  • Game 2: #4 Pearl River vs. #5 Northeast – 12 P.M.
  • Game 3: #1 Northwest vs. lowest remaining seed – 2 P.M.
  • Game 4: #2 Itawamba vs. highest remaining seed – 4 P.M.

Saturday, Nov. 2

  • NJCAA Region 23 Championship Match – 11 A.M.
