MHSAA postpones state basketball playoff games

The Mississippi High School Activities Association Sunday announced that all first-round basketball playoff games have been moved from Monday and Tuesday to Thursday and Friday of this week, due to the winter weather engulfing the state. 

As a result, here is the schedule of first-round playoff games affecting DeSoto County schools playing in the tournament.  

Thursday, Feb. 18

Prep girls basketball

MHSAA 6A playoffs (first round)

South Panola at Hernando

Horn Lake at Starkville

DeSoto Central at Clinton

MHSAA 5A playoffs (first round)

Center Hill at Provine

Friday, Feb. 19

Prep boys’ basketball

MHSAA 6A playoffs (first round)

Hernando at Germantown (Madison)

Warren Central at Olive Branch 

DeSoto Central at Madison Central

MHSAA 5A playoffs (first round)

Provine at Center Hill

Second round games for girls will now be played on Monday, Feb. 22, and on Tuesday, Feb. 23 for boys.

Third round games will be on Thursday, Feb. 25th for girls and Friday. Feb. 26th for boys.
