Keshunn Abram to debut with Montreal Alouettes
Former Northwest and Kent State receiver Keshunn Abram has taken his football talents north of the border.
Abram, a native of Southaven and former DeSoto Central Jaguar, is part of the final roster for the Montréal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL), after initially signing with the team in late January. He joins a lengthy list of former Rangers to suit up in the CFL, most notably including CFL Hall of Famer Henry “Gizmo” Williams (Edmonton), John Avery (Edmonton/Toronto) and Myles White (Winnipeg/Toronto).
Abram was initially signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Jets last spring, but didn’t make the final roster, despite a strong preseason. He suited up in 26 games for Kent State from 2019-21, hauling in 57 passes for 835 yards and five touchdowns, including a stellar senior season that resulted in 47 receptions for 699 total yards.
In two seasons at Northwest from 2017-18, Abram caught 23 passes for 371 yards and a touchdown, averaging 16.0 yards per catch as a sophomore. During that stint, the Rangers compiled a 16-5 combined record and a 10-2 mark in MACJC play, making the conference playoffs in both seasons.
Abram spent his prep career at DeSoto Central, where he lettered three years playing receiver, safety, corner and kick returner. He was the Jaguars’ team captain and team MVP, while also garnering All-Region 1-6A accolades.
Abram is one of several Rangers currently playing in either the NFL, CFL, XFL or USFL. Click here for a full list of Rangers in professional football.
The CFL season will run through October 28, with Abram and the Alouettes kicking off on Saturday, June 10 at 6 p.m. against the Ottawa RedBlacks. Saturday’s contest, and other select CFL games, will air on CBS Sports Network.
