Hutchins Named MACCC Offensive Player of the Week After Record-Setting Performance
SENATOBIA, Miss. – Following a career-defining performance that etched his name in the program’s record books, Northwest Mississippi Community College sophomore Keon Hutchins has been named the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) Offensive Player of the Week.
The wide receiver from Union High School secured the honor after a dominant showing in the Rangers’ 33-13 victory over Southwest Mississippi Community College last Thursday. Hutchins recorded 216 receiving yards on just six catches, marking the third-best single-game receiving performance in school history. He found the end zone three times, including on two separate 62-yard touchdown receptions and a 24-yard catch that opened the scoring for Northwest.
The award highlights a breakout season for Hutchins, who leads the team with 442 receiving yards on 19 catches. His four touchdowns and an impressive average of 23.3 yards per reception are also team-highs. Over his 15-game career as a Ranger, Hutchins has amassed over 500 receiving yards and five total touchdowns.
Fans can see Hutchins and the Rangers back in action this Thursday, Oct. 16, as they host Mississippi Delta Community College for homecoming. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
