Hustle rally comes short against Westchester Knicks
The Memphis Hustle (14-19) were defeated 102-96 by the Westchester Knicks (12-21) in the first game of a back-to-back in New York on Friday, March 29.
Michael Devoe led the Hustle with 21 points and seven rebounds. Davon Reed added 19 points and eight rebounds. Lucas Williamson scored 14 points and Loudon Love totaled 10 points off the bench. On assignment from the Grizzlies, DeJon Jarreau notched his fifth career triple-double, finishing with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 15 assists.
Isaiah Roby paced the Knicks with 23 points, 17 rebounds and seven assists. Dmytro Skapintsev added 21 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. De’Vion Harmon scored 17 points. Obadiah Noel contributed 14 points and 15 rebounds.
After trailing by 10 through three quarters, Memphis scored the first nine points of the fourth to cut the Knicks lead down to one. Leading 92-91 with 3:39 remaining, Westchester went on an 8-2 run to push their lead to 100-93 with 1:14 remaining to hold off the Hustle rally.
Westchester outscored the Hustle 52-36 in the paint and outrebounded Memphis 59-49. The Knicks scored 23 second chance points and 18 points off turnovers.
The Hustle will conclude their season with another matchup against the Knicks Saturday, March 30, at 6 p.m. to complete the back-to-back set.
