Hustle beat Remix in first-ever meeting
The Memphis Hustle (12-12) defeated the Rip City Remix (13-10) 113-109 in their first-ever visit to Portland, Oregon, on Sunday, March 3.
DeJon Jarreau led the Hustle with 23 points, 12 rebounds and six assists. Michael Devoe contributed 20 points. Davon Reed finished with 19 points and eight rebounds. Cameron McGriff added 19 points off the bench. Adonis Arms notched a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Kevin Knox II paced Rip City with 26 points and eight rebounds. Antoine Davis tallied 16 points. George Conditt IV scored 14 points. Taze Moore finished with 13 points and 10 assists.
Memphis opened the second quarter with eight straight points as part of a 24-8 run to take a 16-point lead. Rip City fought back and took a 10-point lead midway through the fourth quarter. The Hustle responded and tied the game at 109 with 1:20 remaining in the game.
Jarreau hit a 16-foot jumper to give the Hustle a two-point lead with 17.7 seconds left in the contest. Davis missed a 3-pointer on the ensuing Remix possession, with Arms responding with an alley-oop to clinch the game for Memphis.
After Rip City shot 15-of-38 from beyond the arc through three quarters, the Hustle defense forced the Remix to misfire on all 12 attempts from beyond the arc in the fourth quarter. Memphis secured a season-high 15 offensive rebounds while also tying the season-high with 56 total rebounds. Memphis outscored Rip City 58-44 in the paint.
