Hernando defeated Lewisburg 3–1 Tuesday night, claiming the county volleyball showdown and leading DeSoto County’s Sept. 8 varsity sports results.
The Tigers edged Lewisburg 26–24 in each of the first two sets. The Patriots answered with a 25–19 third-set win, but Hernando closed out the road victory 25–21 in the fourth. Watch the final point of the match below.

Trojans take the final two sets
Northpoint won 3–2 in Memphis, taking the deciding set 17–15. The Trojans opened with a 25–22 win before St. Mary’s answered 25–22 and 25–20. Northpoint stayed alive with a 25–23 fourth set, then claimed the match in the fifth.
The result moved Northpoint to 10–2 in its posted season record. Individual statistics for the Trojans were not available in the match report.
DeSoto Central, Center Hill earn sweeps
DeSoto Central won at Southaven in three sets, 25–15, 25–13, 25–13. The Jaguars allowed no more than 15 points in a set and improved to 10–9 overall; Southaven’s posted record stood at 4–6.
Center Hill was equally decisive at South Panola, winning 25–14, 25–16, 25–11. The Mustangs improved to 6–4 with the conference victory.
Lake Cormorant pushes Saltillo to four
Lake Cormorant dropped a 31–29 opening set and a 25–21 second set against visiting Saltillo, then extended the match with a 25–23 third-set win. Saltillo closed out the 3–1 victory with a 25–12 fourth set.
Laylie Moore led Lake Cormorant with 13 kills and added 12 digs. Kinsley Stevens contributed nine kills, 15 digs and five aces; Ava Green also served five aces. Micayiah Thompson collected 18 digs, and Kayla Gonzalez supplied 15 assists, according to the posted match statistics. Lake Cormorant fell to 6–9.
Horn Lake lost its conference match at Tupelo 25–10, 25–18, 25–16. The Eagles’ record moved to 3–12.
Northpoint soccer wins 4–2
Northpoint’s girls’ varsity soccer team defeated Westminster 4–2. The result was shared Tuesday evening by the team and displayed on Northpoint’s official girls’ varsity soccer page. Goal scorers and assist totals were not included in the report.
Results still outstanding
Olive Branch at Independence was scheduled for Tuesday in varsity volleyball; the result is not yet reported in the sources checked. Center Hill’s school calendar also listed a Tuesday golf event at Cherokee Valley, but its result was not yet reported.
