Hustle acquire returning player rights to Mychal Mulder, Lucas Williamson

Deals include trading Damien Jefferson rights to Sioux Falls, McDermott rights go to Clippers

The Memphis Hustle, on Friday, Sept. 1, announced that the team acquired the returning player rights to guard Mychal Mulder for the returning player rights to wing Damien Jefferson and a first-round pick (via Indiana) in the 2023 NBA G League Draft.

Mulder (6-3, 195) has appeared in 198 games (174 starts) across five seasons with the Osceola Magic, Sioux Falls Skyforce and Windy City Bulls with career averages of 15.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 36.2 minutes. The 29-year-old has appeared in 84 regular season games over three NBA seasons with the Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat and Orlando Magic after going undrafted in the 2017 NBA Draft. 

Jefferson (6-5, 220) appeared in 59 games (4 starts) across two seasons with the Memphis Hustle averaging 11.7 points and 4.5 rebounds in 24.0 minutes. Jefferson also appeared in 19 games with the Stockton Kings during the 2021-22 season after going undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft.

The Hustle Friday also dealt the returning player rights to Sean McDermott to the Ontario (California) Clippers in exchange for the returning player rights to guard Lucas Williamson.

Williamson (6-4, 205) appeared in 28 games (7 starts) with averages of 3.4 points and 1.4 rebounds in 15.5 minutes last season with the Ontario Clippers.

The 24-year-old Illinois native averaged 8.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 27.6 minutes in 150 games over a five-year career at Loyola Chicago. Williamson earned back-to-back Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year Awards in 2021 and 2022. He also earned 2022 First-team All-MVC honors following a senior season in which he averaged 13.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 32.0 minutes.

McDermott (6-6, 195) appeared in 55 games (20 starts) across three seasons with the Memphis Hustle averaging 10.4 points and 3.3 rebounds while shooting 37.3 percent from beyond the arc. The 26-year-old appeared in 18 regular season games with the Memphis Grizzlies during the 2020-2021 season after signing a two-way contract following a four-year career at Butler.
