Hustle acquire Paul Watson in trade with Valley Suns
The Memphis Hustle, the NBA G League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, announced today that the team has acquired wing Paul Watson from the Valley Suns.
In exchange for Watson, the Hustle traded the returning player rights to guard Charles Matthews and a 2026 second-round draft pick (via Capital City) to the Suns. To create room on the roster, Memphis waived forward Jordan Minor.
A Veteran Presence on the Wing
Watson (6-6, 210) brings significant professional experience to the Hustle rotation. Over six G League seasons with various teams—including the Valley Suns, Austin Spurs, and Raptors 905—Watson has averaged 10.8 points and 4.4 rebounds in 233 career games.
The Fresno State product is known for his perimeter shooting, maintaining a career 37.7% mark from three-point range in the G League. His resume also includes 46 games of NBA experience with the Toronto Raptors, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Atlanta Hawks.
Trade Pieces and Roster Moves
The deal sends the rights to Charles Matthews to the Valley Suns. Matthews, a Chicago native, appeared in 13 games for the Hustle last season. Over a four-year G League career, he has averaged 3.6 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.
The Hustle also parted ways with Jordan Minor to facilitate the trade. Minor had been a productive contributor this season, averaging 9.6 points and 4.9 rebounds across 13 appearances.
