Felix Cavaliere receives AutoZone Liberty Bowl Outstanding Achievement Award
Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Felix Cavaliere, the founding member of the iconic group “The Rascals”, has been selected to receive the 2024 AutoZone Liberty Bowl Outstanding Achievement Award. Each year, this award is presented by the AutoZone Liberty Bowl and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in recognition of excellence in the field of music and entertainment. This time-honored recognition dates back to the early years of St. Jude and its founder, entertainer Danny Thomas.
Cavaliere will perform with Sixwire at the President’s Gala on December 26 at The Peabody and at halftime of the 66th AutoZone Liberty Bowl game on December 27.
Cavaliere and The Rascals achieved Rock and Roll fame with #1 hits, “Good Lovin’”, “Mustang Sally”, “Groovin’” and “People Got to Be Free”. The Rascals had 10 Top 20 singles and six Top 20 albums.
Cavaliere was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997, inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2009 and inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame in 2009. He received a Grammy nomination in 2009 for Best Pop Instrumental Performance.
Cavaliere has written songs for artists such as Aretha Franklin and Olivia Newton John. He appeared at New York’s fabled Madison Square Garden with Billy Joel.
Cavaliere’s music defined a generation. He continues to tour and entertain audiences with his legendary tunes.
