Crawford named MACCC women’s soccer Player of the Week
Northwest Mississippi Community College Sports Information News Release
Following a career performance of five goals in a 9-0 victory against Hinds last week, Northwest freshman forward Evie Crawford has been chosen as the MACCC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week.
A native of Tupelo, Crawford scored four of her five goals in the first 12 minutes of the match, helping the Lady Rangers garner a solid conference victory. She was held scoreless in the 1-1 tie at fourth-ranked Holmes last Friday, but did take two shots, including one on-goal.
Crawford’s efforts against Hinds marked the first five-goal performance for the Lady Rangers since September 26, 2006, when current Northwest Sports Hall of Famer Elyse Lovelace posted a similar showing in a victory against Southwest Mississippi.
Crawford becomes the Lady Rangers’ second MACCC Player of the Week award winner this season, joining fellow freshman Jadyn Duran, who received the award a month ago after scoring five goals in a 3-0 week that featured wins against Southwest Tennessee, Dyersburg State and Mineral Area College.
