Blanchard, Mundy lead county runners at Frank Horton meet

Oct 6, 2024 – Kaydi Blanchard of Lewisburg and Preston Mundy of Olive Branch had the best times among DeSoto County runners in the Frank Horton Classic cross country meet at Shelby Farms Saturday night.  

Blanchard finished 12th among varsity girls running in their race with a time of 19:20.30. Mundy was 17th in the boys’ varsity division with a time of 16:25.40.

Blanchard’s time set a new Lewisburg school record for the girls’ 5,000 meters.

As a team, the Lewisburg girls finished seventh with a team score of 205. DeSoto Central took 15th (427) and Olive Branch was 20th (586). 

The top county boys’ team taking part was DeSoto Central in 10th place with a score of 310 points. Lewisburg was 15th (428) and Olive Branch was 20th (576). Northpoint Christian ran a boys’ team in the race that finished 33rd with 903 points. In addition, two girls from Northpoint Christian took part.

A total of 39 boys teams and 20 girls teams were scored in the meet.
