Wednesday sports page: All-Star baseball game rosters released

Apr 16, 2025- The Crossroads Diamond Club and Mississippi Association of Coaches have officially released the rosters for the D.M. Howie Mississippi High School All-Star Baseball Game. The games between North and South squads representing 1A/2A/3A, 4A/5A, and 6A/7A schools will be played at William Carey University in Hattiesburg between May 27-29. The 6A/7A contest will take place on May 27 at 6 p.m.

Six players from DeSoto County schools and Center Hill coach Peyton Callahan are on the 6A/7A North roster. Players will come from Center Hill, Hernando, and DeSoto Central. 

The Center Hill players named are Ryan Brunetz and Whit Key. Hernando is being represented by Preston Johnson and Luke Romine, and from DeSoto Central will come Aiden Steht and Jack Willis. 

Grenada coach Justin Flake will join Callahan on the North coaching staff for this year’s All-State Game.  

This year marks the 50th anniversary year for the All-Star baseball games.  Special events are planned to recognize past players and coaches from the series over the past 50 years and those who have played in the past are invited to come be a part of the festivities.

SPORTS ETC.: Lewisburg High School on Wednesday announced the schedule for its first round MHSAA 7A softball playoffs next week. As the number three seed from Region 1-7A, the Lady Patriots must travel to Germantown for the first game of the best-of-three series on Thursday, April 24. Game two will be played at Lewisburg on Friday, April 25. If needed, a deciding game three heads back to Germantown on Saturday, April 26.
