What’s open, closed on Monday

State and local government offices are closed Monday for the New Year’s holiday. That includes the DeSoto County Administration Building, Animal Shelter and county courts. The Monday closure is due to New Year’s Day having fallen on Sunday.  

In Southaven, city offices and other non-emergency public facilities are closed Monday for the New Year holiday. All sanitation routes will run one day behind schedule.

Olive Branch City Hall and other City Administration Buildings are closed Monday, along with Hernando and Horn Lake city offices.  

Waste Connections will not service residential garbage and recycling collections for the New Year’s holiday Monday, Jan. 2. Service will be one day late for the remainder of the week. Monday’s collection will come on Tuesday and so on, with Friday’s scheduled collection being on Saturday.

Horn Lake City offices are also closed Monday.  

The United States Postal Service is closed on Monday and there will be no mail delivery.  

Many financial institutions are closed Monday, but retail stores should be open, although it is best to check with specific locations to see if they will observe shortened hours due to the holiday or be open its regular hours.
