Wharton appointed to American Hospital Association Regional Policy Board
Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare today announced that Monica Wharton, FACHE, executive vice president and chief operating officer, has been appointed to the American Hospital Association (AHA) Regional Policy Board in Region 4 (RPB4). Regional Policy Boards foster communication between the AHA, its members, and state hospital associations and provide important input on critical public policy issues unique to a region.
Hospital leaders across Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands are encompassed in RPB4. Each of the nine Regional Policy Boards meet three times per year and provide essential guidance on public policy issues considered by the AHA Board of Trustees, serve as ad hoc policy development committees when appropriate, and identify needs unique to a region.
“It is an honor to serve on the AHA Regional Policy Board, which facilitates collaboration between industry leaders from different regions, allowing peers to share insights and best practices,” said Wharton. “This platform will enable Methodist Le Bonheur to contribute to the development of policies that enhance healthcare delivery and drive positive change on the national level.”
Wharton’s election to the AHA Regional Policy Board highlights her significant contributions to the organization and her commitment to improving patient care. As executive vice president and COO, she has played a pivotal role in the health system’s success and has demonstrated outstanding leadership in managing and enhancing the delivery of healthcare services. This election reinforces Methodist Le Bonheur’s dedication to staying at the forefront of healthcare policy development and advancement.
“Mrs. Wharton is a passionate advocate for healthcare and on behalf of the American Hospital Association, I congratulate her on this appointment,” said Rebecca Jolley, regional executive and secretary of the RPB4. “She is a talented, innovative leader who is committed to transformative healthcare.”
