Voter registration cards sent for special elections

DeSoto County officials recently sent out new voter registration cards ahead of the Aug. 5 special election primary votes for state Senate. Once received in the mail, officials urge that you dispose of the old cards and use the new ones to avoid any confusion.

New voter registration cards will list the new district and precinct assignments for DeSoto County residents. If you haven’t received your new voter registration card, or if you’ve recently moved, you are asked to contact the DeSoto County Circuit Clerk’s office as soon as possible, either in person or by phone at 662-469-8007. By contacting the office, you can rectify any potential discrepancies and ensure your voting rights remain intact.

Absentee in-person voting is now underway for the Special Primary Election for the redistricted state Senate seats. The Aug. 5 primary elections are the result of a federal court order that required changes to several Senate Districts—including those in DeSoto County.

The last day for absentee in-person voting will be Saturday, Aug. 2 from 8 a.m.-12 noon.

Polls will be open for the Special Senate Election on Aug. 5 from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
