Updated absentee ballot information
Oct 21, 2024 – As of Monday, Oct. 21, Mississippi voters had requested a total of 86,525 absentee ballots, according to the Secretary of State’s office. A total of 84,636 absentee ballots have been sent, and 67,802 absentee ballots were received in the state of Mississippi for the 2024 November general election.
The total reflects the number of Mississippi voters who have requested an absentee ballot through their local Circuit Clerk’s Office. The sent total reflects the number of absentee ballots sent to voters from Circuit Clerk Offices. The received total reflects the number of completed absentee ballots returned to Circuit Clerk Offices.
In DeSoto County, 8,457 absentee ballots have been requested and sent by the Circuit Clerk’s office. Of that number, 7,408 have been received and accepted.
The precinct in DeSoto County with the most absentee ballots requested comes from the Lewisburg precinct with 657 absentee ballots.
The Circuit Clerk’s offices in Hernando will be open from 8 a.m.-12 noon on Saturday, Oct. 26 and on Saturday, Nov. 2 for in-person absentee balloting. Voters must be age 65 or be able to sign an affidavit declaring why they won’t be able to vote in person at the polls of Election Day to be able to cast an absentee ballot in Mississippi.
