Thanksgiving holiday closures and service changes

DeSoto County Government, on Monday, Nov. 20, announced the following closings and schedule changes for county services over Thanksgiving week: 

County offices and courts will be closed Thursday, Nov. 23 and Friday, Nov. 24 for the Thanksgiving holiday. Offices and courts will resume normal schedules and operations on Monday, Nov. 27. 

Animal Shelter:
The Animal Shelter will be closed Thursday, Nov. 23-Saturday, Nov. 25. The animal shelter will resume operations Monday, Nov 27.

Emergency Services:
Emergency Services will not be impacted by the closures.

Garbage Collection:
Waste Connections will not collect trash on Thursday, Nov. 23. Thursday’s trash pick-up will move to Friday. Friday’s trash collection will move to Saturday.

Rubbish Pit:
The rubbish pits on Sandidge, Starlanding, and Old Highway 178 will be closed Thursday and Friday.

The Sandidge Rubbish Pit located at 5255 West Sandidge Road in Olive Branch will be open Saturday, Nov. 25 from 8 a.m.-12 noon. The other two will remain closed.

Local municipal governments are also making schedule adjustments for Thanksgiving and residents should check with their city offices for more information pertaining to their particular location.
