The DeSoto Civic Garden Club kicked off the new club year with a fun September meeting  at Tea & Tisanes, located at 2353 Hwy 51, Suite 2 in Hernando.

Owned and operated by Kelly Everett, a large variety of teas and tisanes are offered, along with a lunch menu & Brunch on Sundays. Using her vast knowledge and experience, Kelly explained to club members that all teas come from the plant, Camellia sinensis, harvested from one of two major varieties. Made by steeping in boiling water, teas do contain caffeine.

While not technically a tea, Tisanes are referred to as herbal teas. It’s made by infusing hot water with a root, fruit, herb or flower. Tisanes are caffeine free and can be enjoyed hot or cold.

DeSoto Civic Garden Club also formally welcomed our two newest members, Dawn Weiss and Janet Eddings. Sandy Noble, President, presented each with a lovely petite floral arrangement, designed in an antique teacup. Welcome to both of these ladies.

The DeSoto Civic Garden Club is a member of the National Garden Clubs, Inc. and The Garden Clubs of Mississippi Inc., Hills and Delta District.
