Suspect dead in Olive Branch officer-involved shooting

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) has been brought in to investigate an officer-involved shooting in Olive Branch that has left one person dead.

Olive Branch officers were called on Monday morning to serve a search warrant connected to two counts of child pornography. The person involved had recently moved to the area of 9142 Railroad Avenue from out-of-state, police said.

When officers arrived to serve the warrant, however, the suspect opened fire on them and the officers returned fire. The suspect died at the scene and the involved police officers were not hurt.

As in all officer-involved shooting incidents in Mississippi, the MBI has been called in to investigate the shooting, which is now considered active and ongoing.

Later Monday afternoon, the MBI confirmed the victim as Mark Miller, age 68.
