Police Monday identified the suspect in a stolen vehicle who now is in custody after officers met him at a Sonic Drive-In in Southaven.  He’s been identified as Marcus Quintez Coleman, age 20 of Memphis.

Marcus Quintez Coleman

Coleman is currently in the DeSoto County Adult Detention Center in Hernando. He is facing a variety of charges, ranging from aggravated assault on an officer, felony conspiracy to commit a crime, fleeing/eluding an officer in a vehicle, resisting arrest, and a fugitive from justice, among others.

Police received a call that came in about 10:45 a.m. Friday morning about a stolen vehicle in the area of the Sonic Drive-In at 1185 Main Street (Stateline Road). Officers came in and located a suspect near the location.

While attempting to stop the subject, police say Coleman proceeded to ram police vehicles. Police say he also attempted to run over an officer, resulting in shots being fired. There was no report immediately of anyone being hurt by the gunfire.

Coleman was subdued after a brief foot chase and taken into custody.

Stateline Road was closed to traffic during the incident until the scene was cleared.

Coleman will remain in DeSoto County for now, as the District Attorney’s office moved to revoke the bond.

“On Monday morning, our office filed to REVOKE bond after his Sonic Adventure,” said a social media post from the DA’s office. “Now he’s stuck in county jail— and that’s just the appetizer while we’re working to send him where he belongs: state prison. The main course? A lifetime of hard time.”
