SpaceXAI Liens Top $220M as Contractor Files in DeSoto Court
The pile of unpaid-bill claims against Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company keeps growing. SpaceXAI liens filed against the company’s properties in Memphis and Southaven now total more than $220 million from 16 claimants, according to public records reviewed by the Daily Memphian.
The newest claim was filed Thursday, Oct. 22, in DeSoto County Chancery Court in Hernando, adding to the list of contractors and suppliers who say they have not been paid for work on the company’s fast-moving data center and power projects along the state line.
Latest SpaceXAI liens filed in DeSoto County
Nashville-based Kenny Pipe & Supply filed the most recent lien, for about $1.1 million. The company says it has not been paid for services, labor and supplies it provided on SpaceXAI’s Southaven data center project at 2400 Stateline Road.
A lien is a legal claim against property that a contractor or supplier files to secure payment. It does not mean a court has ruled the money is owed, and the property owner can dispute the claim.

A larger fight over unpaid work
The liens follow a much bigger dispute that surfaced this summer. In August, mechanical contractor Darana Hybrid sued SpaceXAI in Mississippi, claiming it is owed $432.5 million for work at four sites, three of them in Southaven: 2400 Stateline Road, 2875 Stanton Road and 3883 U.S. 51. The fourth site is on Nail Road in Olive Branch.
SpaceXAI and two subsidiaries had sued Darana two days earlier, accusing the contractor of overbilling and fraud and seeking at least $500 million in damages. Both cases remain unresolved.
The Daily Memphian’s report did not include a response from SpaceXAI on the newest liens.
Why it matters for Southaven
SpaceXAI has quickly become one of the biggest and most debated players in DeSoto County. The company operates a power plant and data center facilities in Southaven, has bought homes near its Stateline Road operations and leased a large warehouse on Highway 51. It is also facing a possible $6.1 million in state environmental penalties and a federal lawsuit over turbine emissions.
The growing list of liens adds another layer of uncertainty for local subcontractors and suppliers, many of them small firms, who are waiting to be paid for work on the projects.
