Southaven Police investigating death after missing person report; mother charged
SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — Southaven Police are investigating a death after officers responding to a missing person report discovered what are believed to be human remains inside a Southpark Circle apartment.
According to police, officers were called to the residence around 9:35 p.m. on March 17, 2026, after a man reported his sister missing. He told officers he had not seen her since January and said she was unable to care for herself.
During the initial investigation, police said officers received conflicting information about the woman’s whereabouts.
Authorities later obtained a search warrant and conducted a more detailed search of the home, where they found what are believed to be the remains of the missing woman.
Police said Cynthia Clemons, 40, has been taken into custody and charged with abuse of a vulnerable adult and tampering with evidence. Investigators said additional charges could be filed pending autopsy results.
The investigation remains ongoing.
