Southaven man arrested on murder charges in Memphis death
A Southaven man was captured on Tuesday, April 16 by U.S. Marshals, and others, including the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department Fugitive Team, on charges in connection with a March shooting death on Beale Street in Memphis.
The U.S. Marshals Service reported the capture of Quaverre Rogers, age 27 of Southaven at a hotel in Olive Branch. Rogers was to be extradited back to Tennessee.
According to the Marshals Service, on March 17, Rogers was arrested after a shooting that left 52-year-old Damein Hawkins dead outside the Jerry Lee Lewis Café. Rogers was charged with Second-Degree Murder, but the charge was later dropped. Rogers was subsequently indicted for First-Degree Murder by a grand jury.
On April 16 at approximately 11 a.m., the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force (TRVFTF) in Memphis and partner agencies apprehended Rogers at an Olive Branch hotel.
