Shows at Saucier offer outdoor movies

Southaven Mayor Darren Musselwhite announced on his Mayor’s Report blog posting on Wednesday the start of what is being called “Shows at Saucier.”

Once-a-month outdoor movies will be shown during pleasant weather months on a screen set up on the west side of the lake near the pavilion at Saucier Park, located behind the Southaven City Hall on Northwest Drive.

Musselwhite said the first movie showings will be Sept. 23 (The Secret Life of Pets) and Oct. 21 (Coco).

Musselwhite said citizen input led to the decision to offer the movies, give people a chance to bring lawn chairs and enjoy the evening.

“So many of our citizens have expressed amazement at the massive new opportunities created for our citizens with our parks enhancement and expansion plan,” Musselwhite said. “Many others express their excitement, but have said, ‘Don’t forget about the small stuff, too.’”
