Show-Cause hearing for Holly Springs Utility Department scheduled
Aug. 5, 2025 – The Mississippi Public Service Commission (PSC) has scheduled a show-cause hearing for Sept. 4 to address concerns raised in a recent report about the Holly Springs Utility Department (HSUD).
The hearing is set for 9 a.m. at the New Albany Municipal Court, where HSUD officials will be required to respond to findings outlined in a report filed by Silverpoint Consulting last week. The report, which examined HSUD’s operations, prompted the Commission to take further action.
The PSC voted unanimously Tuesday, Aug. 5 to proceed with the hearing and emphasized the importance of public participation in the process.
“We strongly encourage public participation in the upcoming show-cause hearing, emphasizing that this is more than a procedural requirement—it is critical for HSUD to address the issues raised in the report and to clarify its actions,” the Commission said in a joint statement. “By working together, we can ensure that the outcome serves the best interests of the people who rely on HSUD services.”
Northern District Commissioner and PSC Chairman Chris Brown, whose district includes Holly Springs, said the hearing is a key step in resolving longstanding issues facing the utility.
“This show-cause hearing is the crucial next step to bringing about a solution to a crisis which has been decades in the making,” Brown said. “We remain committed to bringing relief to the people of HSUD.”
The PSC has not disclosed specific details of the Silverpoint report publicly, but it is expected to be a focal point of the hearing. The report is available on the Commission’s website for those seeking more information.
