Sen. Hyde-Smith visits Olive Branch airport to discuss growth, economic role
Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith visited Olive Branch Airport Taylor Field (OLV) to learn about the facility’s expansion, the City of Olive Branch said. The city said she met with Mayor Ken Adams, representatives from flight schools Air Venture, Luke Weathers Flight School and ATP, the Olive Branch Chamber of Commerce and DeSoto County Economic Development Council leadership.
The city said the discussions focused on the airport’s continued growth and its role as the only airport in DeSoto County. City officials said they also discussed aviation workforce development, economic development, military and medical operations and regional aviation capacity.
The City of Olive Branch said the visit provided an opportunity to highlight OLV’s economic impact. The city said the airport has recorded record-setting aircraft operations and continued growth, positioning it as an increasingly important aviation and economic asset for North Mississippi and the Memphis metropolitan region.
The City of Olive Branch said it appreciated Hyde-Smith’s time, interest and commitment to understanding the opportunities and needs of Olive Branch Airport as it continues to grow and serve the region.
