School calendar for DeSoto County Schools announced

The DeSoto County School District (DCS) has approved a school calendar for the 2021-22 school year. Approval of the calendar was made during the Board of Education’s Thursday, Feb. 4 meeting.  

Aug. 2 will be the first day of the year for teachers and students will first report to class on Aug. 5.

After a break for Labor Day on Sept. 6, a fall break will be on Oct. 11 with no school that day.

Classes will be dismissed for the Thanksgiving holiday from Nov. 22-26 and the end of the first semester will be on Dec. 17.

The DCS Christmas break in the upcoming school year will be Dec. 20-Jan. 2 and Jan. 3-4 will be considered professional development days, again with no classes scheduled.  

Classes resume from the holiday break on Jan. 5.

Martin Luther King Jr. holiday is Jan. 17 and a professional development day of Feb. 18  will be followed by the President’s Day holiday on Feb. 21.

Spring break in the 2021-22 school year is from March 14-18. Good Friday holiday of April 15 and Easter Monday on April 18 are both off days for classes.

The students’ last day for classes is May 24 and the final day of the school year for teachers is the following day, May 25. 

The four tentative make-up days in case of inclement weather are Feb. 18, April 18, and May 25, 26, and 27.
