Scene Clear After Hit Gas Main, Olive Branch Mayor Says

The scene is clear and repairs are complete after a hit gas main near Hamilton Circle North and Acree Lane, Ken Adams, Olive Branch mayor, said.

City crews were on site and had secured the area, he said. There was no immediate threat to the public. Drivers and pedestrians were asked to follow directions from the Olive Branch Police Department and the Olive Branch Fire Department.

Adams urged residents to dial 811 before digging. He said natural gas leaks are not always detected by smell alone and advised that if people smell gas, hear a hissing sound, or see blowing dirt, bubbling water or dead vegetation near a gas line, they should treat it as a potential leak and report it immediately.

“When in doubt, get out first and then call 911 and (662) 895-4111 from a safe location,” Adams said.
