Scam calls claim to come from Sheriff Thomas Tuggle

The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department is reporting a new scam is circulating with someone calling people claiming to be the county sheriff.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, there have been several reports of calls to citizens who are told Sheriff Tuggle is calling, they have a warrant and they need to pay the caller over the phone to take care of it.

The Sheriff’s Department is stating the calls are false, the caller is not Sheriff Tuggle and the citizen being called should not act on the call.

The Sheriff’s Department says it will never call and ask for personal information or a payment of any kind over the phone.

If you receive such a scam call, you can report it to the Sheriff’s Department non-emergency line at 662-469-8027.
