Reentry Job Fair held in Hernando
May 13, 2025 – Another in a continuing series of Job Fairs put together by the Governor’s Job Fair Network was held Tuesday at the Gale Center in Hernando. The event unites potential employers with potential employees who need a new job.
Adam Todd, Director of the Governor’s Job Fair Network, was in Hernando Tuesday for the event. While all Job Fair events are open to everyone, this event had a special purpose: to help those who, for whatever, are being inhibited from applying for work, to more easily get employment. It could be a recent release from jail or similar reason that means employers are not looking at them for employment. Todd said the recruiters knew ahead of time of who they might be speaking with.
“Today, specifically, we made sure that all of these businesses knew that we are going to be sending and want people who may have had those impediments in their past to come to this event,” said Todd. “That is specifically what we are for here today.”
That is why Tuesday’s job event was being billed as a “North Mississippi Reentry Job Fair.”
“We have about a dozen businesses that are here to help hire individuals that may have had some type of impediment to employment in the past, whether it be some type of conviction or anything of that nature,” Todd said. “Every business here knows and is open and willing to talk to those individuals and help get them back into gainful employment and that just helps everyone.”
Todd said there was a good turnout for the employers who spent part of the day willing to talk with applicants and he continues to say that, if you’re looking for work, you can find a job.
“There are abundant opportunities throughout the state of Mississippi, and that’s why these types of events are very important,” Todd said. “A Governor’s Job Fair Network event is a barometer of what is really taking place in the local economy. So if you see businesses that are here that are actively hiring, that means things are going in a positive direction and trending well for that organization.”
Todd added another Job Fair Network hiring event is in the works to return to the Landers Center in Southaven later this summer in August.
