Online safety message urges drivers to give cyclists three feet of space

A safety message circulated online urged drivers to give cyclists the same courtesy they give other motorists and to leave at least three feet when passing, the message said.

It advised drivers to ‘slow down as you approach,’ ‘move over in the other lane completely (at least three feet)’ and ‘pass at a safe speed and location,’ the message said.

The post included the hashtags #ShareTheRoad and #safetyfirst.

The message asked drivers to treat cyclists with the same courtesy they extend to other road users, the post said.
