Olive Branch sets Clean Up Day, supports litter prevention

The City of Olive Branch is urging residents to help keep the city clean and is using the month of April being National Keep America Beautiful Month as a springboard to boost the effort.

City officials pointed out in its monthly newsletter to residents that staff across several departments have spent close to 500 hours picking up litter along roadways, city parks, storm drains, and more.

A major activity in the clean up will take place on Saturday, April 19 with the city’s Community Clean Up Day, concentrating on the Church Road corridor.

Interested groups will gather at the Church Road Soccer Complex at 9 a.m., divide into teams and head out to clean until 12 noon.

Businesses, school groups, or an HOA/Neighborhood interested in organizing a clean up on this same day are asked to fill out the form found at www.obms.us/cleanupday. All completed forms will be issued a clean up kit.

Businesses and other entities that commit to cleaning up their respected areas will also receive a complimentary decal marking them as a community partner in the city’s efforts to combat litter.

The City of Olive Branch provides citizens with complimentary orange litter pick up bags, gloves, and other supplies. These clean up kits are available for free to residents and groups who pledge to clean up a section of road, intersections, or parts of neighborhoods any time of the year, but especially for the scheduled Community Clean Up Day.

Cleanup kits include:

  • Bags to collect trash
  • Collection gloves
  • Devices to pick up litter (trash grabbers)
  • High Visibility Safety Vests

The City of Olive Branch provides curbside rubbish and limb removal with no charge of service to residents up to one truckload.  More information about City Rubbish Guidelines is found on the city website at https://www.obms.us/325/Rubbish

Recycling efforts are also supported when residents opt-in to recycle collection for $5/cart. To register your home for recycling you are asked to call City Hall at 662-892-9305.
