Olive Branch carjacking suspect extradited, another still sought
Jul 6, 2024- The search continues for an adult suspect after two juveniles have been apprehended in an armed carjacking of a DoorDash driver back in May. One of the juveniles was recently returned to DeSoto County from Memphis by extradition.
The suspect being sought is identified as Courtney Fleming, age 18, who the Olive Branch Police Department and DeSoto County District Attorney’s Office accuse of being one of three men involved. Felony charges are awaiting his capture by authorities.
Back on May 12, a trio wearing ski masks approached a DoorDash driver at Poke World, 5142 Goodman Road in Olive Branch, about 8 p.m. They used pepper spray to subdue the driver at gunpoint and left with the driver’s vehicle.
A 16-year-old was located and was extradited back to DeSoto County from Memphis last week, according to information received Saturday from the District Attorney’s office. He is now facing adult felony charges in the case.
Another juvenile, age 13, was apprehended and is to be charged in youth court in connection with the incident.
Olive Branch Police Department and District Attorney’s Office investigators jointly worked to locate and get the 16-year-old juvenile extradited back to DeSoto County from Memphis.
District Attorney Matthew Barton expressed appreciation of the combined work done by investigators to capture the suspect.
“To those in Memphis considering criminal acts in our community, think again,” Barton said. “We will relentlessly pursue those who threaten the safety and security of our communities.”
