Olive Branch asks public to respect nesting birds at City Hall
The City of Olive Branch asked residents to give a nesting pair space near City Hall, saying the birds identified as Ollie and Blanche are raising spring young and have shared them with Mayor Ken Adams and city staff, the city said.
The city said Blanche has remained close to City Hall and asked that people who encounter the birds respect their nesting area.
The city listed Magnolia Wildlife Education, Conservation and Rehabilitation, Inc., and Mississippi Wildlife Rehabilitation as local resources for help with ducks, geese or other wildlife. Magnolia Wildlife can be reached at 901-254-4295 or magnolidawildliferehab@gmail.com; Mississippi Wildlife at 662-612-6455 or contact@mswildliferehab.org, the city said.
The City of Olive Branch urged residents to contact those organizations if they encounter wildlife that needs assistance and to avoid disturbing the nesting area while the birds raise their young, the city said.
