No make up days for missed snow days

If you were wondering how DeSoto County schools were going to make up for the four days of class missed earlier in February because of winter weather, the answer is… they won’t be made up.

Supt. Cory Uselton says he asked the school board in late January for permission to grant administrative leave in lieu of makeup days to district teachers, teacher assistants, and other “non-230 day” district employees if schools needed to be closed for inclement weather.

“To ensure employee compensation, our school board members voted unanimously in favor of this measure,” Uselton said.

Because of the decision of the school board, those employees will be getting administrative leave for the school days missed for inclement weather. Make up days will then not be necessary due to the recent closure of schools for weather.
