DeSoto County District Attorney Bob Morris has announced that two new additions to the office are officially on board, as of Monday, July 3.

Meghan Fowler is the newest Assistant District Attorney and Laramie McKenzie is the newest Criminal Investigator. Both were previous employees of the Shelby County District Attorney General’s Office.

“They each bring a unique set of skills in dealing with the fast paced criminal justice system, as well as digital evidence skills not previously utilized by DeSoto County,” Morris said. “We look forward to learning from them and working together to create a safer DeSoto.”

The District Attorney’s office has not been able to hire employees for new positions since 2005 but received funding in the last legislative session to add Fowler and McKenzie.

“My first objective as DA was to get more prosecutors and more investigators so we can be even more aggressive and prepared for the future,” Morris said. “We are still in the process of hiring two more Assistant Prosecutors as well.”
