National Day of Prayer in DeSoto County

Thursday is the annual National Day of Prayer observance across the country and two observances are planned for that day in DeSoto County.

The County Board of Supervisors and the City of Hernando will join together at 7:15 a.m. on the steps of the DeSoto County Courthouse.

Another observance will take place the same day at 12 noon at Olive Branch. First Baptist Church of Olive Branch will host that city’s observance on the front lawn of the City Hall building

The theme for National Day of Prayer is “Lift up the Word – Light up the World.”

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.

All are welcome to be a part of the observances Thursday in DeSoto County.
