Man arrested on aggravated assault, other charges in Hernando shooting

HERNANDO, Miss. (Oct. 13, 2025) — Carlos Devell Scott of Hernando was arrested Sunday afternoon and charged with Aggravated Assault, Manifesting Extreme Indifference to Human Life, and Tampering with Physical Evidence following a reported shooting incident.

The Hernando Police Department received a 911 call at approximately 1:17 p.m. Sunday reporting that an individual had been shot at by someone in a tan or gold Ford Crown Victoria.

Responding officers, utilizing community assistance, were able to quickly identify, locate, and apprehend the suspect without further incident at approximately 1:50 p.m.

Scott was subsequently booked into the DeSoto County Jail. His bond has been set at $250,000.
