Maddox Foundation named Foundation of the Year

The Hernando-based Maddox Foundation has been named the Foundation of the Year by the Mississippi Alliance of Nonprofits and Philanthropy and will be one of a number of organizations honored at an April awards luncheon event at the Old Capitol Inn in Jackson.  Haley Fisackerly, President and CEO of Entergy Mississippi, is this year’s keynote speaker.

Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi President Keith Fulcher, in making the announcement to foundation board members, reminded them of the Maddox Foundation and the origin of the Community Foundation.

“The Community Foundation would not be in existence if not for the vision by Robin Hurdle for a community foundation and the financial investment of the Maddox Foundation,” Fulcher wrote.

The Maddox Foundation was established in 1968 by Dan and Margaret Maddox. The Foundation aims to make significant investments that create lasting legacies.

The Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi (CFNM), established in 2002 with a generous grant from the Maddox Foundation, manages over 300 donor-established funds and has distributed more than $48 million to support over 1,000 charitable programs.

The Mississippi Alliance of Nonprofits and Philanthropy, established in April 2019, is a membership association dedicated to enhancing the capacity and effectiveness of Mississippi’s mission-based organizations. The Alliance was formed through the merger of the Mississippi Center for Nonprofits and the Mississippi Association of Grantmakers, recognizing that both sectors share the common goal of improving the quality of life for individuals, families, and communities across the state.
