Inmate attacks DeSoto County jailer with taser

An inmate inside the DeSoto County Adult Detention Center in Hernando is accused of tasing a jailer.  

The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the incident took place inside the jail on Nov. 14 before 11 a.m.

John Riles was accused as part of an altercation with a jailer. Riles has been charged in connection with the incident. The unidentified jailer received minor injuries. 

Riles, with no address available, was in jail after sentencing on charges of a probation violation/uttering a forgery. He has now been charged with simple assault in connection with the attack.
