Illegal burning causes large fire

Thursday night, the Nesbit Fire Department responded to a large fire that began as an unauthorized burn. Walls Fire Department and Eudora Fire Department responded to assist Squad 7, Engine 17 and Tanker 7 from Nesbit.

The fire was the result of illegal burning, according to the Nesbit Fire Department, and tied up the three fire departments for several hours.

“It is important to remember that all burning in DeSoto County requires a permit and should be done safely in order to prevent the spread of fire,” the department reminded readers on its Facebook page.

Burn permits are available by calling 662-469-8080 for more information.
