8:50 a.m. Friday update

Northpoint Christian School closed Friday

Northpoint Christian School and NCS TrojanCare is closed on Friday, Feb. 4, due to inclement weather. Friday’s basketball games vs. Harding Academy have been moved to Saturday afternoon. Varsity games will be at 3 p.m. for girls and 4:30 p.m. for boys. Senior recognition will be at 2:30 p.m. for girls and approximately 4:10 p.m. for boys.

City of Olive Branch delayed opening

City of Olive Branch has delayed the start of business for non-emergency personnel until 10 a.m. Friday morning. This does not affect EMS personnel.

Waste Pro garbage collection

Waste Pro is running Friday, but because there was no collection Thursday, and other weather factors, they expect collection to run into the weekend, as long as the landfill stays open. Leave carts out for collection through the weekend.

Southaven Municipal Court closed Friday

Southaven Municipal Court is canceled for Friday. The building has no power and phones are down. Letters will be mailed to the defendants last known address advising of rescheduled court date. If you are unsure whether the address we have is correct, please call the court when we reopen.

Horn Lake city offices closed Friday

The City of Horn Lake’s non-emergency facilities will be closed Friday, Feb. 4. This does not affect public safety and emergency services.

Magnolia Heights School closed Friday

Magnolia Heights School in Senatobia will be closed Friday, Feb. 4. Extended Care will also be closed.  This will be a snow/inclement weather day. There will be no distance learning. 

Southaven city offices delayed opening

Southaven City Hall and all other facilities will have a 2 hour delay Friday. Offices will open at 10 a.m. An update regarding Municipal Court will be posted soon.

DeSoto County Schools closed Friday

Under advisement from DeSoto County Emergency Management officials and the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department, DeSoto County Schools will be closed Friday, Feb. 4. This will be an inclement weather day, and there will be no virtual learning.

Health Department delayed openings

Due to predicted hazardous road conditions, all Mississippi State Department of Health facilities in the following counties will open at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 4: Coahoma, DeSoto, Marshall, Panola, Quitman, Tallahatchie, Tate, and Tunica.

Southaven-Waste Connections garbage collection

Waste Connections is not expecting to run Friday. They do plan to run Saturday to begin to catch up if the landfill reopens on Saturday. Thursday customers can leave carts out or put back Saturday if not collected today. Friday customers can put carts out Saturday in case they can begin Friday’s routes but it will likely be Monday for them to catch up. Put carts out as normal next week
