Horn Lake Comprehensive Plan meeting set Tuesday

The City of Horn Lake has a meeting planned Tuesday evening to help put together a new comprehensive plan.  Residents are encouraged to come to the First Baptist Church gymnasium between 6-7:30 p.m. The church is located at 3505 Goodman Road West in Horn Lake.

Called the Horn Lake Forward to 2044 Plan, the process is a collaboration between residents, business leaders and city officials.

By putting together the comprehensive plan, Horn Lake city leaders can be used to determine future policies and guidelines for land use, zoning, infrastructure development, environmental, and other priorities.

The comprehensive plan is a city’s long-term vision for future growth. Horn Lake officials have set early December as a goal for completion.

The last time Horn Lake put a comprehensive plan together was in 2003. Since then, officials say the city population has risen by nearly 90 percent.

The city’s Planning and Development department is working with Orion Planning + Design, along with community input, to create the new plan.
