Hernando Farmers Market among must-visit markets in the South
The Hernando Farmers Market has made a list that puts it up against others in much larger cities.
Southern Living Magazine lists the Farmers Market among “12 Farmers Markets In The South You Should Visit This Season.”
According to the article dated March 29 and written by Skye Sherman, the Hernando market is right there with others, such as Charleston, S.C., West Palm Beach, Florida, and Nashville, Tenn.
In the item, Sherman writes, “Hernando Farmers Market is ‘Mississippi small town living’ at its finest. Here, you’ll experience local food, artistry, and agricultural traditions in one sweet spot: the historic Town Square. This open-air market runs on Saturdays from April to October and offers a wide assortment of goods, from fresh local milk to preserved foods and even unique handicrafts. Aside from all the market fun, there are other draws, like free yoga classes at sunrise, live music, food demonstrations, and other special events.”
Among the awards won by the Hernando Farmers Market has been its ranking among the best in the country by the American Farmland Trust, including being named “Mississippi’s Favorite” in 2012. It was named the state’s largest market in Mississippi in 2017.
